ArtSea is a weekend-long convention dedicated to helping aspiring young dancers cultivate their talent and recognize the potential in pursuing a professional dance career. ArtSea strives to be a bridge that connects the young artists of the Caribbean to the vast dance world abroad. Whether it be dancing in college to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts, teaching, or dancing professionally, ArtSea will be an outlet for these young, talented artists to learn and grow within their craft. The program will provide master classes, informational sessions, and performance opportunities to further their artistic growth. Through these weekend long workshops, we hope to give parents and children, with aspiring art careers, an opportunity to be exposed to different styles of dance first hand.
Over the course of the program, ArtSea will provide the students with tools to build their self-confidence and give them applicable knowledge in pursuing a professional dance career.
The young artists who attend the weekend workshop will participate in:
• 4 Genres of Dance
• Body and Wellness Workshop with Professional Dance Physical Therapist
• Q & A with Faculty and Teaching Artists
• Dancing in College Seminar
• Final Performance Showcase
By participating in the ArtSea workshop events, students will learn:
• Dance Classroom Etiquette
• Technical Dance Skills
• Communication Skills
• Body Awareness and Injury-Prevention
• Process of Dance College Applications
